Habitat for Humanity California is a coalition of independent Habitat for Humanity affiliates serving communities across the Golden State, bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Habitat California was founded by a group of dedicated California affiliate leaders in 2015 who had a vision of uniting the diverse voices and resources our state’s Habitat affiliates have to offer with the goal of scaling our collective impact toward a California where everyone has the foundation for a bright future - a safe, healthy home they can afford.

Our mission is to support, educate, and advocate on behalf of Habitat for Humanity affiliates in California.

The Habitat affiliate network in California stands ready to serve 94% of the state’s population in urban, suburban, and rural areas. Habitat California strives to enable local Habitat affiliates to serve more people by providing support in the following areas:

Habitat for Humanity California has an open-door policy — all who believe that everyone needs a safe, healthy, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views, or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of improved housing regardless of race or religion.

As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
