Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity is an unforgettable way to make a difference in your community. You’ll work alongside fellow volunteers, Habitat staff, and homeowners who are building strength, stability, and opportunity through affordable homeownership.
And you don’t need construction experience to make an impact! Habitat welcomes volunteers with a wide range of backgrounds, interests and abilities. Depending on your local Habitat and the opportunity you choose, you might learn new skills, meet new people, get your hands dirty and see firsthand what can happen when a community comes together.

Habitat ReStores rely on volunteers to help receive and organize donations, assist customers, merchandise items, and keep stores running smoothly. Your time helps generate revenue that supports Habitat’s local housing mission.

Share Your Skills
Not every volunteer opportunity requires a hammer. Local Habitats may need help with administrative projects, communications, photography, data entry, office support and other specialized skills.
Raise Your Voice
Habitat advocates for policies and investments that make affordable homeownership possible for more Californians. Help us by contacting elected officials, participating in advocacy events and speaking up for housing solutions in your communities.
Help make Habitat community events, fundraisers, homeowner celebrations, and other special activities a success. Opportunities can range from setup and registration to hospitality and event support.
Pitch In at Events
Roll up your sleeves and help build, repair, or preserve affordable homes in your community. Habitat provides the guidance you need, so no construction experience is necessary for many opportunities.
Build + Repair Homes
Habitat for Humanity California is an Affiliate Support Organization, working behind the scenes to strengthen and support local Habitat for Humanity organizations across the state. Because we do not build homes or operate ReStores directly, Habitat California does not coordinate individual volunteer opportunities.
The good news? Habitat affiliates throughout California offer meaningful ways to get involved in communities across the state.
